The Passing

Performance piece as part of Resilience Lab

A collective  public performance involving a group of elders unraveling and reforming a ball of hand knitted chord between their hands for 1.5 hours. The knitting of the chord began as part artist Gail Barker's residency with us in 2013. After the residency Gail continued to knit until she declared it finished 2 years later, when it was then used for this collaborative performance piece which embodies ideas of deep time, knowledge and the visibility of elders knowledge in societal context.
